e-Capsule™ Private Mail (or e-Capsule™ PM) is a highly innovative application that enables users to exchange e-mails with unprecedented mobility and security features.
The e-Capsule™ PM application is characterized first of all by the fact that it is fully contained on a USB device, thus requiring no installation and no special drivers. This property is technically called “zero-footprint”, indicating that no trace is left of the session on the PC, either as temporary files or OS registry values. After you quit your e-Capsule™ PM session on the host PC, no one will be able to recover any useful information or data on the session itself.
Moreover, e-Capsule™ PM stores all messages and other information used by the application (e.g. the address book entries) on the USB device, where they are kept in encrypted format at all times. This means that all your private information is kept encrypted even when you need to use it and it is made available only internally to the e-Capsule™ PM application. The encryption algorithms are the strongest today recognized by the cryptography community, e.g. AES-256bit and RSA 2048 bit.
As you know, e-mail is the primary way that viruses, worms and malicious codes in general can spread over the Internet. An innocuous looking e-mail from anyone can carry a virus that could damage your data and your computer.
Using e-Capsule™ PM has several advantages over using well-known and standard e-mail clients (such as Microsoft® Outlook). For example, should you receive an e-mail containing a virus and assuming it passed the PC’s virus-scanning software:
- the virus will not auto-execute (using known Outlook vulnerabilities), unless you launch it (e.g. by double clicking on the executable attachment);
- even in the worst case that the virus will execute, it will not spread and replicate using your e-Capsule™ Address Book entries, since these are kept encrypted at all time and are meaningless to external applications or viruses.
Finally, e-Capsule™ PM is today the only mobile application that combines strong (military-level) encryption of mailboxes and address books with the ability to manage the users’ personal digital identities. In fact, using e-Capsule™ PM you will be able to generate your own digital certificates (in standard X509 format) and to use them to send/receive encrypted e-mails and to digitally sign messages. You can export these certificates and use them in other e-mail clients, such as Microsoft® Outlook, and even generate a digital certificate for each of your correspondents, thereby provisioning the full set of digital certificates needed to secure all your sensitive e-mail exchanges.
Notwithstanding its powerful features, e-Capsule™ PM operates mostly like any other standard e-mail client, but with a special focus on your secrecy requirements.
